To test VS Code extensions on Windows I run VMWare Fusion on my computer. Inside is a Windows 11 VM. All works fine except one very annoying thing.

I use key mappings so that Cmd+C or Cmd+V sends Ctrl+C or Ctrl+V respectively to the active windows application. However when I accidentally only press Cmd, the start menu opens and takes focus from the current app.

It is very annoying.

Finally fixed it today with autohotkey.

#Requires AutoHotkey v2.0

LWin::Return
RWin::Return

This makes sure both left and right Cmd keys do not do anything on their own.
